Private Game Reserves & Conservancies

Beyond the national parks, private reserves and community conservancies border parts of the Northern Circuit. They can offer activities the parks don't always allow and fewer vehicles at a sighting — but access, permitted activities, ownership arrangements and fees vary by property and must be confirmed before booking.

Access is property-specific

Each reserve or conservancy sets its own rules on vehicle numbers, beds and visitor access. We do not guarantee empty sightings or a fixed vehicle cap; the conditions at a specific property are confirmed before booking.

Night drives & walking safaris

After-dark game drives and guided walks are restricted inside the national parks and may be available in adjoining reserves or conservancies. Whether they are offered, and any additional fee, depends on the property and is confirmed in your quotation.

Community & conservation arrangements

Some conservancies involve local communities in management or benefit-sharing. The ownership, lease and benefit arrangements differ by area; we describe the specific arrangement at a property you are considering rather than making a blanket claim about community ownership.

Pairing with the Northern Circuit

Where suitable, we may add one or two nights in a reserve or conservancy to an existing itinerary. We do not advertise fixed reserve partnerships; availability, access and any conservation fees are confirmed in your written quotation.
